STEP Bulgaria Curriculum

Week 1: June 25 - June 29
Locations: Orphanages in Sofia, Plovdiv, Gabrovo, Berkovitsa and Dolna Banya
Theme: Introductions and getting to know each other. Our volunteers
visited each orphanage to meet  their future students and introduce
them to the program.

Week 2: July 2 - July 6
Location: National Center for Professional Deveopment, Kremikovtsi
Theme: Basic vocab on introducing and describing oneself. The students
created their e-mail accounts and learnt how to send text and pictures
to their mentors via e-mail.

Week 3: July 9 - July 13
Location: NCPD, Kremikovtsi
Theme: International travel vocab let the students discover their
countries of interest and create powerpoint presentations about them.
Two health workshops: one on AIDS and one on drug addiction, engaged
the students in meaningful discussions about how they could remain
healthy and heppy.

Week 4: July 16 - July 20
Location: Orphanages in Sofia and Plovdiv
Theme: Our goal during this week is to lead our students along the
path of discovering themselves, their interests and their dreams. In
this way they can start thinking about their future and how they could
shape their lives. Talking about one's dream planet will facilitate
the process of reflecting on each student's future.

Week 5: July 22 - July 27
Location: Orphanages in Sofia and Plovdiv
Theme: Education and Job searches build up on the theme from the Week
4. The students should learn how to write their CVs, look for
information about educational and professional opportunities online
and from other available resources.

Week 6: July 30 - 3 August
Location: Sofia
Theme: Review and reflection on the past five weeks. Students will get
to visit sites around Sofia and engage in some final artistic events
before the Closing Ceremony on August 2, at 5pm in Elieff Center
(Studentski Grad).
